Falls Artwork by Cecile Grace Charles

I have mentioned in other stories about my artworks, that I will use someone I know whom I am inspired by for my theme. It could be the way they look; it could be the way the act, or it could be what they do in life.

Sometimes I will watch a person for weeks or months until I see that particular moment where they have turned into the light, or turned away from me. I will know long before what to look for, then I capture that in my mind and I go home, draw out that look and save it until I am ready to paint that particular painting.

Sometimes it could be weeks or months before I paint. Rarely do I not do the artwork, although once or twice what I saw was not really there so I choose not to be inspired. Here though I was inspired by the turn of her cheek. This is the wife of a friend of mine. She moved just so and that stuck in my mind. Then I translated it to this imagery.

Often, I use color theory to tell a part of the story. The color purple is associated with meanings such as royalty, luxury, power, ambition, and creativity. It can also represent mystery, spirituality, and independence. Periwinkle is a soft blend of blue and purple, symbolizing serenity, calmness, and femininity. It is often associated with blossoming friendships, sentimental memories, and everlasting love. Lavender is often associated with tranquility and is linked to spiritual themes, when all used in art in a collective manner, you will see a deeply feeling person reflected in the work. If it is juxtaposed with the color of pavement, a gray tone black, the artist is delving into the mystery of that particular subject.

Falls is an artwork about beauty and mystery. But it is also about the suggestion of association with all the attributes mentioned.
