Bright Aspen

I do a lot of impressionism when I paint trees. I like bright colors, but I do also do more muted artworks. In this case though I was inspired by a piece of jewelry a friend of mine was wearing. The neckace was full of stones in all the colors you see here in this artwork. The metal was purple and white enameled. For some reason it reminded me of aspen trees. So I painted what I was seeing in my head. The tree references are from a stand of aspen trees on my property.

I use inspiration to get an idea, I used things I see to blend them together. The setting is spring, the hillside is on my property. The wildflowers, I have never bothered to research them, although I should, they last about two weeks and then they are gone.

In the spring the hillside is lush and full of dew from random short rainshowers. Everything is always so bright and fresh. Where the sun brushes the leaves, the brightness of them nearly glows.
