I like to paint about every subject. Not everyone appreciates the ideas, but I paint sometimes to record what is going on around me in the world. Not in agreement or disagreement, but as a record of being in the midst of what is going on. A recognition of facts. I like to present them in a beautiful way even if the subject is not pretty to others.

You may interpret this artwork differently than why I painted it, and really, there is an intent there for that. And I have an acceptance about my art, when someone sees something in it I did not intend to paint. Go for it, if it moves you great.

Here though, I was showing the male and female part of the personality. There are traits involved that have nothing to do with modern gender issues, they simply are about an individuals ability to have two sides to themselves and that together it can be beautiful. And that even together often it is chaotic from the inside looking out.

So how do I express that in this artwork? Right side up, it is the feminine side of the person. We all have it in degrees, it can be called nurturing, or mothering, these mean to care for or protect.

Upside down, it reflects the masculine side of the person. It can also be called parenting or birthing, upbringing. Dominant traits. These traits are in both male and females and come to the top of the personality depending on upbringing and events that happen to you personally.

Both are equally a wild ride. Both can be a perfect package when well put together or out and out crazy if brought up in bad circumstances. It really is individually dependent on your life. It is up to you which comes out. I just like to paint it.
