Let's shake it up a little bit with a look at my textile patterns, specifically Chicken Love1.

All of my patterns are inspired by my own art. Often I use an existing artwork to format a textile design. This is what I have done here. I work in several different software programs, the simple ones are Photoshop and Affinity. The commercial computers and software are a whole different bag of tricks, and I use them too, but for now I will talk about the use of Photoshop and Affinity for this particular pattern.
First I take the original, isolate the parts of the painting I want to use and clip them into their own files. I do that in photoshop. I prefer the interface on Affinity though, and layer my designs into the textile pattern there.
The challenges on #spoonflower are to hone my designing skills and to compete with other creatives. That Spoonflower then gives us a platform to sell our designs as fabric and merchandise is also rather terrific.
Craft Maximalism was the challenge for this design. The goal was to use my own painting strokes to come up with a pattern that met the criteria.
I came up with a bright and fabulous pattern that looks terrific.
